The time for talk is over at Nepean Business Park, with the $2 billion precinct officially opened this week.

The first buildings, comprising of 64 strata industrial units called ‘The Depot’, will soon house a host of businesses calling Nepean Business Park home.

Nepean Business Park will ultimately create more than 1,400 local jobs, house hundreds of new enterprises and is predicted to contribute $500 million annually to the local economy.

“This will be a gamechanger for our region, and it demonstrates why we need to plan ahead for the future of western Sydney,” Deputy Premier for NSW and Minister for Western Sydney Prue Car said.

“We are living in one of the fastest growing regions in the state, and this investment unlocks the expert jobs and economic opportunities for residents, close to home. I look forward to seeing this site come to life and the new opportunities it brings for our community for generations to come.”

Nepean Business Park will also provide a public walkway connecting to the Great River Walk as well as having cycle paths and other community amenities, something State Member for Penrith Karen McKeown welcomes.

“This development is a major win for Penrith, creating new jobs, supporting local businesses, and strengthening our region’s economic future,” she said.

“I’m proud to support an initiative that will deliver long-term opportunities and enhanced amenities for our growing Penrith community.”

The ribbon to the Park was cut under a sunny Penrith sky on Monday, April 13 by Car, McKeown, Penrith Mayor Todd Carney and Nepean Business Park Chairman Bruce Baudinet.

“The project’s always been more than just about economic output,” Baudinet explained.

“The future of industrial precincts isn’t just about logistics and warehouses. It’s about supporting Penrith business growth and supporting people’s experiences at work.

“We are creating a true employment precinct, one that supports local businesses to grow, attracts new investment, and creates opportunities for young people to develop their skills, to train, and to build careers closer to home.”

Carney was equally as thrilled to support the opportunity to create more jobs locally, saying 60 per cent of residents leave the area for work.

“Exciting things are happening in Penrith at the moment. The airport’s coming on board very soon, we’ve got the Metro linking to St Marys only a year away – those connections bring so much life to our community,” Carney said.

“We’re building more homes for people to live closer to home, but what we need to do is make sure we have the jobs to go along with it.

“This is one of those pathways to see more jobs here locally for the residents, so they don’t have to leave our community each and every day.”

Nepean Business Park is located on the 49-hectare former quarry site adjacent to the Sydney International Regatta Centre.
